This morning after 35 hours of deliberation, a jury found Aaron Hernandez guilty of murder in the first degree in the shooting of Odin Lloyd. The jury found that Hernandez acted “with extreme atrocity and cruelty.” Pending an appeal, Hernandez faces a mandatory sentence of life without the possibility of parole.
The prosecution presented no murder weapon, no witnesses, and no motive, BUT an incredible amount of circumstantial evidence put Hernandez with Lloyd on the night of June 17, 2013. The prosecution were aided by Massachusetts’s “joint venture” law, which means prosecutors weren’t required to prove that Hernandez was the one who actually pulled the trigger.
Hernandez STILL faces more charges in a drive-by shooting that occurred in 2012 outside of a Boston nightclub.
Not to diminish the situation/circumstances or to in any way make lite of the situation, but I guess you can take the boy out the hood but you can’t take the hood out the boy. Aaron Hernandez NEVER grew up, never matured as an individual and NEVER actually understood the opportunities in front of him in the NFL with the New England Patriots or in life in general.
He took at least one man’s life (possibly more) for no real reason other than having a dispute and an argument, NOW Hernandez will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Was it worth it to prove you’re a tough guy, Aaron??? Was it worth it to prove that you won the argument!?!?!?
The truly sad part is the fact that Aaron Hernandez obviously has no respect for human life, his own or anyone else’s……….and honestly, Hernandez will probably enjoy his life in jail.
So who knows if he’ll ever learn anything from this or feel any sort of regret or real understanding of his actions, but I hope EVERYONE else out there will. Maybe the silver-lining is that someone out there will NOT follow the same path that Hernandez took because of this terrible, horrific story.
